Abu Dhabi: In his first official visit to the UAE, Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sisi arrived yesterday (Sunday) in the UAE, and was received by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Upon arriving at Al Mushrif Palace, Al Sissi was accorded an official reception during which the national anthems of the two countries were played, and a 21-gun salute was fired in honour of the guest.
Al Sissi welcomed Arab investors, especially those from the UAE, whom he said “stood with Egypt in an unforgettable manner”.
During his meeting with UAE businessmen at Emirates Palace Hotel, and with Dr Sultan Bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, in attendance, Al Sissi said: “We welcome you in Egypt and will work on providing the appropriate investment climate,” adding: “We shall do all our best for you to find in Egypt real and feasible investment opportunities.”

Egypt-UAE relations have seen a boom throughout the last two years with the UAE implementing a number of development projects worth more than $10 billion (Dh367 billion) in 18 governorates, generating more than 600,000 jobs and serving some 10 million people.
He also stressed the feasibility of investment in Egypt, highlighting that it is considered a large and important market. He added that the Egyptian economy is an open window towards the African economy, which includes more than 1.3 billion people.
“Egypt is currently working to overcome the obstacles foreign investments faced during the past four years,” he said. “Investments were unattractive as a result of bureaucracy and corruption in obtaining permits and licences for investors.”
Al Sissi said that Egypt respects its obligations towards investors and will have “a unified investment law ahead of the economic conference in March”.
He also stressed that Egypt is making great efforts to encourage investors and is working on a range of investment projects that will be ready to be presented at the next conference.
Later, Al Sissi visited the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque, accompanied by Dr Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber and Mohammad Bin Nakhira Al Daheri, UAE Ambassador to Egypt. Al Sissi began his tour with a visit to the tomb of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and offered prayers. He was briefed on the legacy of Shaikh Zayed that had enriched the culture of tolerance and co-existence.
